Hi! I’m Louise and I am a pianist and teacher based in Ripley, Surrey.
Learning the piano is one of the best things I ever did. It’s my tonic, my relaxation, my joy – and I take great pleasure from seeing my students experience this too. Playing the piano stimulates the brain, gives you a challenge and can be an excellent way of unwinding, as well as providing an outlet for expression.
I teach piano lessons in Ripley and the surrounding area. I am an enthusiastic, encouraging and patient teacher and I am DBS approved. I am happy to teach all styles, ages and abilities. I am also available to play at weddings and events and to accompany for music exams, auditions and other performances.
My Story
I have had a deep love for music for as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to a wide variety of genres, was always wanting to discover more, and music became the main focus of my childhood and teenage years. I started playing piano aged 8 and four years later, took up the saxophone, progressing to ABRSM Grade 8 on both instruments.
Ever since then I have played in a variety of bands, orchestras and ensembles on both piano and saxophone, as well as accompanying students for exams and auditions, and playing at friends weddings!
I started teaching part-time in 2005, alongside my old career as an analyst, choosing to make it my full-time career in 2017. I have undertaken various courses and workshops over the last 20 years and continue to do so to further my knowledge as a teacher and musician.
My Teaching Philosophy
- I aim to teach lessons that are fun, inspiring and valuable.
- Every student is unique, so I make sure my lessons are individually tailored to your personality and learning style.
- I encourage passion and confidence in learning to play the piano.
- I believe in teaching the necessary skills and techniques as well as providing the building blocks for a lifelong appreciation of music.
- I continually work on my professional development as I believe it is important to keep my lessons fresh, relevant and interesting.
